Are typos, misspellings, and grammar and punctuation errors making your writing seem unprofessional? This one-hour workshop will provide you with techniques for finding your mistakes and correcting them before you hand in your paper.

AVOIDING THE FIVE MOST FREQUENT GRAMMAR ERRORS -- Tuesday, March 24, 12:30 to 1:30 pm

Are you having trouble with grammar?  Struggling with run-ons and fragments?  Confused about punctuation?    In our “Avoiding the Five Most Frequent Errors” workshop, you will learn:

  • How to correct run-ons
  • When to use commas and apostrophes
  • How to identify incomplete sentences
  • How to avoid commonly misused words
  • How to find and fix errors on your own

WRITING THE SCHOLARSHIP STATEMENT -- Wednesday, April 1, 2:30 to 3:30pm

Your statement is an important part of your scholarship application. Yet it can be one of the most difficult things to write. Come to our workshop, and learn how to present yourself at your best, so you stand out from the crowd.

At this workshop, you will learn:

* How to interpret what the prompt in the application is asking you to write about.

* How to avoid sounding like a victim of difficult circumstances

* How to honestly address a less-than-perfect academic record.

* How to clearly relate your goals to the scholarship you are applying to.
