Faculty Development

Writing

You have unique ideas, performances, or works of art to contribute to others; FacDev wants to help you actualize the public dissemination of your scholarly passions be that through words, thoughts, performances, or creative works. In the past we have protected space for faculty to write quietly (e.g., Writing Wednesdays). If you are interested in a program like this, please contact us at . We offer this program on an as-needed basis.

Planning for Scholarly Productivity Workshop

Creating and maintaining a scholarly research agenda amid the pressures of teaching, advising, and service at CSUN can seem overwhelming or even impossible. In this interactive workshop we will discuss ways to establish and implement reasonable research goals, and to make your writing time productive and even enjoyable! Please bring a calendar with important deadlines, travel plans, and personal commitments that you have for the fall semester. You will leave the workshop with a clearly defined research agenda and a concrete plan for executing it.

Writing Communities

This program provides faculty with structure and a positive community of fellow faculty interested in making weekly progress on their writing goals throughout the fall semester. Participants commit to attending a 90-minute writing session on Zoom each week for ten weeks. Each session will begin with a 5-minute greeting and opening discussion, followed by 80-minute minutes of individual writing time and a 5-minute closing discussion. Faculty Writing Communities help by creating structure and accountability in your writing routine, and providing the camaraderie that can even make your writing time fun!
