Save the Date: Freshman Convocation 2017

May 24, 2017

Save the date:  Freshman Convocation, September 14, 2017!

Celebrate the entering class of 2017 by attending CSUN's Freshman Convocation.

Participate in the faculty and staff procession to show your support and encouragement as these students embark on their new academic journey.  The invited keynote speaker is Bree Newsome, the activist who scaled the flagpole in front of the state capitol of South Carolina to take down the confederate flag in 2015. She will likely address many of the central themes from Between the World and Me, like social justice, race, and ethics, among others.

Also of interest will be the presentation of this year's Dianne Harrison Leadership Award, a scholarship presented annually to a rising sophomore. The Convocation ceremony also includes a short address by an outstanding senior from the graduating class of 2017.

The ceremony concludes with a reception for all on the front portico of the Oviatt Library.
