The Selection Committee has chosen the five finalists for CSUN's 2017-2018 Freshman Common Reading:
- Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
- Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
- Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
- Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
- Against Football: One Fan's Reluctant Manifesto by Steve Almond

The selection committee will meet in January 2017 to choose the winning title. Oviatt Library owns all five books.
