CSUN’s Center of Achievement to Host 7th Annual Run, Walk and Roll
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 15, 2008) — Officials with Cal State Northridge’s Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled invite the public to get off the couch and lace up those tennis shoes for the seventh annual "Run, Walk and Roll" on Saturday, April 26.
The fast, flat course starts in front of the Center of Achievement on the corner of Lindley Avenue and Plummer Street and will lead participants through the CSUN campus and into the neighboring community. The event includes a One Mile Wheelchair Roll, 5K and 10K Run and Walk, and the Kiddie-K Fun Run.
"The proceeds from this event will help the center continue to provide affordable therapeutic exercise programs to those in the community who need them," said Carol Bennett, coordinator for the center. "The funds also help support the Britten scholarship and the Children’s scholarship program for adults and children with disabilities that otherwise would not be able to benefit from the center’s program."
The Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled is a non-profit organization that provides both land-based and aquatic adapted therapeutic exercise for children and adults with disabilities. The Center is part of the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Development.
The race is organized by members of the FOCAS (Friends of the Center of Achievement and Supporters) and the CSUN’s Department of Kinesiology in collaboration with the Center of Achievement. Proceeds from the "Run, Walk & Roll" will support the center, a non-profit organization. The event is presented by 99-Cents Only Stores.
Pre-registration fees are $25 before Monday, April 21, and $30 thereafter. Kiddie-K Fun Run registration is a flat $10 fee.
Parking is $5 and is available in lot G4. For more information or to register, contact the Center of Achievement at 818-677-2182 or visit www.w2promotions.com/public/eventdetail.php?ActiveID=1532227.
