Senator Alex Padilla to Speak at CSUN Nutrition Lecture
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 1, 2008) — Officials with Cal State Northridge’s Marilyn Magaram Center for Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics and the Students Dietetic and Food Association will jointly host Alex Padilla in a lecture that will explore "healthy" legislation.
The California senator will provide insight into current and past nutrition bills on Thursday, April 3, from 3 to 4 p.m., in the Lakeview Terrace of the University Student Union, located on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
"The public will learn how they can become involved with legislation and public policy and learn about the current issues related to nutrition and health," said Annette Besnilian, director of the Marilyn Magaram Center.

The Magaram Center in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is dedicated to providing current nutrition and lifestyle information to enhance the knowledge and health of the community. The center's staff and students examine food and its effects on people of all ages, the physical changes food undergoes in processing and preservation, and the behavioral aspects of food consumption.
