CSUN to Host Campus Forum on Proposed State Funding Cuts
What:Cal State Northridge President Jolene Koester, faculty and students will discuss the impact the governor’s proposed budget cuts of $312.9 million for the 2008-2009 fiscal year will have on the 23-campus California State University system.
The proposed budget cuts come only three years after the CSU budget was reduced by more than $500 million during the 2002-03 and 2004-05 fiscal years. In addition, the $73.2 million in general fund revenue needed to avoid raising student fees by another 10 percent was not included in this year’s proposed budget.
System officials said the proposed budget reduction means that the CSU will be unable to provide access to 10,000 qualified students.
