KCSN Welcomes New Broadcaster
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 29, 2008) — Officials with Cal State Northridge’s acclaimed public radio station KCSN FM, 88.5–FM, welcome the addition of familiar radio voice Laura Brodian to the weekday classical music broadcasts.
Originally from Indiana, Brodian is now the mid-day music host for KCSN’s Arts & Roots Radio. Her voice can be heard from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, as part of the station’s 12-hour block of classical music.
"The addition of Laura Brodian to the KCSN Arts staff makes an inestimable contribution to our ability to bring listeners great music," said KCSN director Martin Perlich. "A seasoned professional, with years of experience—and admirers from KUSC and KMZT—Laura is already renewing friendships among music lovers who fondly remember her friendly manner and excellent programming."
Brodian is skilled in both music and art having received her doctorate from Indiana University. She previously attended art classes at the California Art Institute. Her voice has been heard on the airwaves in San Francisco and Los Angeles for pre-concert Los Angeles Philharmonic lectures. Brodian’s art has been published in a variety of magazines, including The Easton Press, Weird Tales and Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Fantasy Magazine.
Brodian is "ecstatic" to be a part of the highly regarded KCSN.
"I feel privileged to be on the team that serves the community with such diversity and passion in its choice of music," she said. "The accolade by Los Angeles Magazine as ‘‘he Best in L.A.’ is well deserved and I'm happy to be a contributor to it."
KCSN has been broadcasting from Cal State University, Northridge since 1963. It has won more than 400 awards in national and state competitions against professional casters and university students.
