CSUN Students to be Tested on Nutrition Knowledge
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 14, 2008) — University students from along the Pacific coast will test their knowledge of food and nutrition and what they mean to human survival at Cal State Northridge’s sixth annual Nutrition College Bowl on Saturday, April 19.
The only Nutrition College Bowl in the nation, the event is designed to encourage an enthusiasm for learning, a spirit of teamwork and a sense of community among students enrolled in nutrition and food science programs at colleges and universities across the region.
"We want to help expand the students’ knowledge of nutrition, dietetics and food science," said Sabrina Kim and Krista Petty, team coordinators for the bowl. "In addition, it will exemplify the importance of team work, networking, school spirit and having a good time."
Eleven teams are scheduled to compete, representing Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Central Washington University, CSU Fresno, CSU Long Beach, CSU Los Angeles, CSU San Bernardino, San Diego State University, UC Berkeley, UC Davis and CSUN.
The competition is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. in the Marilyn Magaram Center for Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics in Sequoia Hall near the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
