Dear Students and Employees,

Today, the California State University (CSU) announced that it will require faculty, staff and students who are accessing university facilities or programs to receive a vaccine booster shot to be fully immunized against COVID-19 as the most effective protection against infection and severe disease as we see a rise in cases and the expansion of the Omicron variant across the country.

When finalized, the revised CSU vaccination policy will require boosters to be received by February 28, 2022 or six months after an individual received the final dose of an mRNA vaccine (i.e. Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) primary series or two months following completion of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

We know that many of you will have questions regarding the details of this new requirement and the ways in which it will be implemented.

We also know that individuals have varying timelines for booster eligibility, depending on when they received their original one or two-shot dose series.

Please know that CSUN is fully committed to working with our entire campus community to maintain campus health and safety and comply with this new policy in a manner consistent with our values and following the CSU meet-and-confer process with our labor unions.

Campus leadership is working diligently to gather more information as it becomes available and will share additional details with the campus by January 10.

In the meantime, we encourage you to obtain your booster shot as soon as you are eligible by visiting myturn.ca.gov. The CSUN portal is being updated to allow you to revise your self-certification vaccine status. We will notify the campus community once that becomes available.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the fight against COVID-19 and for all you are doing to move Matadors Forward.
