Feria de Educación Provides Pathway to College Success for Latino Community

In 2008, Univision and the CSU Chancellor’s office partnered to create Feria de Educación, which provides Latino families with valuable information about college preparedness. CSUN hosted this event for the first time on Oct. 15, attracting families both from the San Fernando Valley and beyond to aid young people wanting to learn about college applications, financial aid, careers through various majors and much more.

China Through the Lens of Jon Thomson

Sat, Oct. 22, 12 p.m. to Sat, Dec. 10 12 p.m.
Legendary Scottish photographer and travel writer John Thomson (1837-1921) set off to Hong Kong in 1868 and in the next four years he undertook several major journeys photographing regions of China. The photographs taken on these journeys form one of the most extensive records of any region taken in the 19th century.

Justice Can’t Wait: Deaf People of Color Seeking Change Through the Arts Exhibition and Events

The Department of Deaf Studies will highlight and celebrate the experiences of Deaf people of color through a series of events that will take place Oct. 23 through Nov. 2 across the campus. Events include an art exhibition opening reception at the West Gallery, Afro Cuban Dance through ASL, Deaf Education and Families Project Family Fun Day, Deaf Jam Film and Discussion, and ASL Poetry Workshops.

The Youth-Driven Information Privacy Education Campaign (YDIPEC) launched in August to help young people and their parents learn to safeguard their privacy online. The campaign is the culmination of a yearlong grant awarded to CSUN marketing professors Kristen Walker and Tina Kiesler.
