1. Benefits for Salaried Employees
The University Corporation (TUC), is an Auxiliary Organization of California State University, Northridge, which provides many services and projects for the University that are not provided for in the CSUN budget. A few examples are the Food Service, Bookstore, and Sponsored Projects.
TUC provides salaries, working conditions and benefits for their full-time employees which are comparable with those received by University employees performing substantially similar services.
The following is a summary of the major benefits provided by TUC.

1.1 RETIREMENT PROGRAM
All employees that are minimum 21 years of age and have completed two consecutive years of employment (without a break in service), with a minimum of 1,000 hours in each year, will be eligible to participate in TUC's Defined Contribution Plan (TIAA/CREF). Previous employment at another higher education institution may be used in determining eligibility date. TUC will make employer contributions to a participant's account each Plan Year in which the participant makes nondeductible contributions. The amount of the contribution will be determined each year by the Board of Trustees. Employees will be 100% vested upon initial participation. Note: there are other eligibility requirements which could affect you. Please contact TUC at (818) 677-5040 for more details.
1.2 HEALTH PLANS
A salaried employee working 20 or more hours per week, on an appointment to exceed six months is eligible to enroll in a variety of health plans administered through the California Public Employees? Retirement System).Eligible employees are able to enroll during the first 10 working days or during the annual open enrollment period.The employer?s contribution towards the carrier?s group premiums is 90%.The employee will pay a 10% premium rate.Premiums are subject to change annually beginning January 1st.
1.3 DENTAL PLANS
TUC sponsored dental program offers two types of coverage; an Indemnity Plan and a Group Practice Plan from Delta Dental Plan of California.A salaried employee working 20 or more hours per week, on an appointment to exceed six months is eligible to enroll in a dental plan.Eligible employees are able to enroll during the first 10 working days of employment or during the annual open enrollment period.The employer?s contribution towards the carrier?s group premiums is 90%.The employee pays a 10% premium rate.Premiums are subject to change annually on January 1st.
1.4 VISION PLAN
TUC sponsors an employer-paid vision plan underwritten by PacifiCare Health Insurance.A salaried employee working 20 or more hours per week, on an appointment to exceed six months is eligible to enroll in the vision plan. Eligible employees are able to enroll during the first 10 working days of employment.
1.5 LIFE INSURANCE/AD&D
In the event of your death, your beneficiary(ies) will receive a lump sum payment of:
1.Life insurance of 1 times your annual salary for non-management staff; or
2. Life insurance of 1.5 times your annual salary for management staff.
3. 100% of Pension Plan (if applicable).
4. Optional supplemental Life/AD&D, spouse and dependent child Life/AD&D is offered at the employee's cost
1.6 VACATION AND SICK LEAVE
New salaried employees working 40 hours per week earn the following vacation accrual rate that may be used after one full month of employment:

73 Months to 10 Years 11 1/3 Hours Per Month
121 Months to 15 Years 12 2/3 Hours Per Month
181 Months to 20 Years 14 Hours Per Month
241 Months to 25 Years 15 1/3 Hours Per Month
301 Months and over 16 Hours Per Month
Employees in the Executive plan will accrue 16 hours of vacation accrual each month.
Every employee receives 1 Personal Holiday per calendar year, which must be used during that samecalendar year. Part-time employees are entitled to a Personal Holiday on a pro rata basis.
Each salaried employee working 40 or more hours per week earns 8 hours sick leave per month that may be used after one full month of employment.Salaried employees working less than 40 hours per week earn sick and vacation leave on a pro rata basis.
1.7 PAID HOLIDAYS
All employees are entitled to these paid holidays on the day they are observed on campus unless they are in non-pay status on the holiday or they are required to work to perform necessary services.
Employees who are required to work on a holiday shall receive holiday compensation. The University will be closed on the holidays listed below. Essential services, such as campus security, will be maintained on all holidays.

1.8 TAX SHELTERED ANNUITY PROGRAM
TUC provides a number of tax sheltered annuity companies in which employees (with no predetermined termination date) may participate through payroll deduction.For information concerning this program, please contact the TUC Human Resources office at (818) 677-5040.
1.9 WORKERS' COMPENSATION
TUC provides Workers' Compensation Insurance for all employees injured on the job.The purpose of the plan is to assist the employee who has a job related injury or illness.Workers' Compensation Insurance pays all medical expenses and provides the employee with Temporary Disability for income lost while unable to work.Employees may use their sick leave to supplement Temporary Disability payments.If the injury results in death, death benefits are provided for the surviving spouse and dependents.
1.10 UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE /
STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE
TUC provides Unemployment Insurance benefits, State Disability Insurance (SDI), and Paid Family Leave (eff. starting July 2005) for all employees.For information concerning eligibility, filing claims, etc., contact the nearest Employment Development Department (EDD) in your community.
1.11 FEE REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
Regular full-time employees (excludes employees on contracts and grants) may participate in TUC's fee reimbursement program.No more than six units per semester may be taken and the coursework must be absolutely work-related as determined and approved by the employee's supervisor.
