Staged the American premiere of internationally renowned South African  playwright, Athol Fugard’s My Life  receiving an Artistic Director’s Award for best production.  Cited for Outstanding Achievement in Directing by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle for the L.A. premiere of Lee Blessing’s   Eleemosynary (also LADCC Awards for Best Production, Acting  and Writing; Drama-Logue Awards for Directing, Production,  Ensemble and Design) at West Coast Ensemble.Among his West Coast and Los Angeles premieres are Closer Than Ever  (Drama-Logue Award for Best Ensemble), A…My Name is Alice (Drama-Logue Award for Best Director) and Vanishing Points (Best new Play/Production: Herald Examiner). He received multiple nominations as Best Director of The Killing of Sister George for Actors Alley where he also directed the L.A. premiere of Richard Nelson’s translation of Three SIsters during the inaugural season at The El Portal Theatre.He has directed Pterodactyls and Blasting Holes in the Night for the First and Third International Experimental Theatre Festivals for Shanghai, China. He has also directed in New York, Japan and Germany. His plays, From Dust Thou Art and Hating to See the Sun Rise, adapted from oral history collections, have garnered productions and awards nationally.He has served on the faculties of the Pennsylvania State University and the Florida School of the Arts and continues as head of the Acting/Directing area at CSUN. He has participated in Master classes with Tadashi Suzuki in Japan, Stella Adler in L.A. and holds MFA and BFA degrees from Carnegie Mellon University.

Professor Binkley has been working in the area of theatrical design for over 10 years. Prior to receiving his MFA from Southern Methodist University, he collaborated with the following South Florida organizations: Greater Miami Opera, Miami City Ballet, and the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. Since John's relocation to Southern California in 1996 he has worked with major regional theatres such as Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and South Coast Repertory as well as numerous smaller theatres.
Professor Binkley received a BackStage West Garland 1998 for Scenic Design for two productions produced in Equity-waiver theatres in Los Angeles: Patience (Gilbert & Sullivan) by the Antaeus Company and Slide (Lori Latham) produced by the Wilton Project. In 2001 he was chosen as a finalist in the National Endowment for the Arts/Theatre Communications Group career development grant for designers. And in 2002 he was nominated for an Ovation Award for his design work in Street Stories (Paula Cizmar).

M. Barrett (Barry) Cleveland has just joined the theatre faculty of California State University-Northridge as Production Manager. He was a Fulbright Senior Scholar teaching at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1997-1998.  While in Asia, he presented guest lectures and workshops at a variety universities and theatres across Taiwan, as well as participating in a seminar, “CAD for Scenography,” and presenting workshops at Yong-in University, Seoul, South Korea.  During fall of 2000 he was the Production Manager and Lighting Director for the Diamond Tour of the Moscow Ballet’s national tour of The Nutcracker playing in eighteen cities across seven states.  He has executed over 200 theatre and dance production assignments for a variety of university and professional companies, including, The Ohio State University, The Contemporary American Theatre Company (Columbus Ohio), The Hip Pocket Theatre, Casa Manana Summer Musicals, Shakespeare in the Park (Fort Worth, Texas), and for Impact Dance, Dance Express, Canyon Concert Ballet, and High Performance Dance (Fort Collins,CO). His primary research investigates integrating microcomputer technology into the design and production process.  Publications include articles in Dramatics, Theatre Crafts, Theatre Design and Technology, Yale Technical Brief, Lighting Dimensions, Selected Readings of the International Visual Literacy Association, and the Dutch journal Zichtlijnen.  Recent awards include the 2003 Provost’s N. Preston Davis Award for Instructional Innovation at Colorado State University and the 2004 Braden/Beauchamp Visual Literacy Award from The International Visual Literacy Association.  Professional memberships include The United States Institute for Theatre Technology, The International Visual Literacy Association, The Fulbright Alumni Association, The Colorado Fulbright Association, and Rocky Mountain Section of The United States Institute for Theatre Technology.

Anamarie is Rachel's mom. She is also a Professor of Theatre at California State University Northridge. She earned her B.A.E in Theatre/English, Secondary Education and an M.F.A in Child Drama from Arizona State University.  She is dedicated to directing productions and teaching courses that allow diverse voices to be heard. Anamarie chooses to consistently involve the university community and the larger community in the process of production.  Her holistic approach to performance study, which involves active research on the part of student actors, connections to the larger community, work with playwrights and authors, and public forums for the discussion of the work add important dimensions to the student's experience.Anamarie worked closely with director and actor Tony Plana on the development of Beyond Borders, an after-school educational outreach program. She has served as a teacher/leader for the California Arts Project, a state organization dedicated to providing uality arts experience for teachers through the strategy of teachers teaching teachers. Anamarie leads diversity workshops and institutes that explore what diversity means in the arts.  Just prior to joining the CSUN theatre faculty, Anamarie recorded several Hispanic folk tales for Children's Press. Ten stories were placed on cassette and entitled Our Multiethnic Heritage: Hispanic Folktales. Three of the stories have been placed on individual cassettes and each accompanies a fully illustrated book: the titles are The Tiger and the Rabbit, The Coyote Rings the Wrong Bell, and The Girl from the Sky. She works regularly as a story teller and performed her first one-woman show last Spring.

Ah-jeong Kim is a Professor of Theatre History in the Department of Theatre at CSUN. Her research focuses on intercultural theatre, Asian theatre, and theatre history. Kim's book, The Metacultural Theatre of Oh Tae-sok (1999) received the 2001 Korean Literature Translation Award in Korea. Over the past 13 years Kim has conducted workshops and given papers in Korea, China, England, and the Netherlands. Most recently, she led symposia and gave lectures at The Soho Experimental Theatre (2003), The British Museum (2004), Theatre Museum (2005), Asia House (2006) in London. In 2006 she worked at the Barbican Centre, Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue, as dramaturg and translator for the production of Romeo and Juliet by a leading Korean theatre group, Mokhwa Repertory Company under the direction of Oh Tae-sok. She conducted theatre workshops with Master Oh for students at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). 10 of CSUN’s honor students were also in attendance. Her current research project involves a book entitled, “Shamans in Contemporary Korean Theatre," commissioned by Routledge Publishing, forthcoming 2008. Kim serves as the Department honors advisor and the director of the MA program.

Lillian Lehman is a Professor of Theatre, teaching acting, Improvisation, and Acting for the Camera (a class she created). She has also successfully directed several mainstage productions at CSUN. As a veteran actress for 35 years of stage, film, and television, she has many film credits such as Defending Your Life with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep and the recent Evan Almighty.  A few of her TV credits include Magnum P.I. (Emmy consideration), General Hospital ("Dr. Meadows", 16 years), E.R.,  Cold Case, and most recently a recurring role as Judge Tiano on the new TNT hit series, The Closer.  She's filmed hundreds of on-camera and voice-over commericals. Her numerous voice-over credits include narration for the nationally acclaimed four-part series Intimate Strangers for PBS. Professor Lehman has served as co-chair of the National Women's Committee for AFTRA/SAG as well as a member of the Affirmative Action Committee and a National Board Committee. She has been a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for 27 years and served on the Executive Peer Committee for the Television Academy and the By-Laws committee. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, and Actors Equity Association.

Prof. Lennon has been designing costumes around the country for the past fifteen years. He joined the CSUN faculty in the fall of 1999 and has designed costumes for Shim Ch'ong Chon, Into the Woods, and The Way of the World among others. He also designed costumes for Pterodactyls, which traveled to Shanghai, China for the International Experimental Theater Festival at the Shanghai Theater Academy.His work outside of the University includes designing costumes for the world premiere of with Cornerstone Theater Company, Mary Shelly's Santa Claus at International City Theater, and Lyle the Crocodile with the Dallas Children's Theater. He has also worked with Fort Worth Shakespeare in the Park, Utah Musical Theater, The Undermain, and the Contemporary American Theater Festival. Most recently Garry directed Laurie Brooks' The Wrestling Season at CSUN playing for both adult and high school audiences throughout the spring of 2003. He earned hi MFA in Theatrical Design at West Virginia University and his undergraduate degree (with directing emphasis) at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
