Department Exams

CSUN offers two placement exams in math and chemistry to determine eligibility to enroll in specific chemistry and math courses at CSUN. The Chemistry Placement test (CPT) is required for students to enroll in Chemistry 101. The Math Placement Test (MPT) is required for students to enroll in Math 103, 104, 105, 150A and 255A. These tests must be taken within two semesters preceding enrollment in courses. The CPT and MPT can only be taken once in a six month period.
