The name is meant to convey the “cascade” of properties, rules and inheritance. When combined with a structural markup language like HTML, XHTML and XML (although not limited to these) CSS provides browsers with the information needed to present the visual aspects of a web document. Again-CSS provides the presentational rules that define visual design when combined with a structured document formatted in a language such as XHTML.
