Instead of using visual design practices, electronic documents must be built for structure. Headings must be tagged as headings, paragraphs as paragraphs, lists as lists. Elements must be identified and assigned appropriate semantic meaning.

Build to standards-know the specifications established by the W3C. Pages built to standards will work better with standards compliant browsers.
