You will create a Wiki page (Wiki is a "free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.") You can access our Wiki page at http://www.csun.edu/learningnet/taechang
From the main page, you will see classess listed, click on the appropriate class that you are enrolled.
Once you are in your class page, then you will see your name and assignments below. From there, you will start on your assignment.
Goal of this assignment is for you to take ownership or co-ownership of an assignment that is listed on the class page and create and maintain a FAQ page that relates to the assignment, in other words, use this page to assist future students how to complete the assignment and tell future students some hints or pointers.
Since Wiki's purpose is to allow the others to view and make edits, your job will be to monitor and ask questions that will facilitate others to respond. So, you will make a FAQ page that relates to your assignment. For example, if you took the letter assignment, you might want to ask questions on your page or have areas for discussions and then write an email to your classmates telling them your page is ready for others to view and to make edits or comments pertaining to your assignment.
Creating Links..
When you are on a page, you will see 'edit' on the top bar, click on 'edit' and from there, you can make changes to that page. To create links (absolute) to the world wide web, you will need to place a bracket[] such as [http://www.csun.edu/taechang]. The example here is what you could place in the edit mode to go to Dr. Chang's site.
Creating New Pages..
You will need to be in the 'edit' mode and to create a new page, simply place a double bracket and place what you want the page to come up as. For example, if you wanted to work on the letter assignment, then you would type [[letter]] and that would open a new page with the title letter on top. Keep in mind that you will need to be in the 'edit' mode.
Inserting Images...
When using the u-drive, place the image in your public_html folder. Next, in the edit mode in Wiki, type http://www.csun.edu/~userid/____.jpg (for userid, place your userid and / then the name of the file) Example, if my userid was rte8574 and the image name was dog.jpg, then I would type in http://www.csun.edu/~rte8574/dog.jpg
Minimum requirements for this assignment will be to...
1. Choose an assignment and place your name on the top of the page that you have selected stating that you will be the facilitator for that page. Since we have more students than assignments, some assignments will have more than 1 facilitator
2. create two links from the class page, one link will be your name, and the other link will be the link from the assignment that you choose. Both of these links will go to the same place (example, if Sandra chooses PowerPoint to be the assignment that she intends on maintaining, then whether you click on Sandra or PowerPoint, they will both go to the same place which will be the PowerPoint FAQ page.
3. ask at least 7 questions
4. create a link (absolute) that goes out to the world wide web
5. create a link (relative) that goes to another page within the class Wiki site
6. insert an image
7. respond to at least 3 other classmates Wiki page (when you have replied to at least 3 different assignments, email Dr. Chang the three places that you made comments. When you reply to an assignment, place your name at the beginning of your comment.)
This assignment has two deadlines, for the first deadline, you will be responsible for setting up the page (ex. images, questions, formatting and etc.)
The second deadline will be the one that has the page complete with questions and answers. This page will need to be linked to your portfolio page.
Note: If anyone makes edits or ruins your page, you can go back and click on the history page and revert back to a previous time and all of your work will show up.
