For this assignment, you will create a comprehensive vocabulary list.
1. First, you will need to look up at least 15 vocabulary words from a source (ex. Dictionary, on-line, glossary from a book, etc.) You will need to cite where your words came from so that means you cannot make up your own definitions. This will be the first part of your assignment, the second part will be to copy and paste all of the vocabulary words and make a final comprehensive list.
2. After you decide on the 15 vocabulary words, you will post them in WebCT in the discussion section and post in the “Vocabulary Assignment.” You will need to post by Midnight, October 26th and you will need to turn in the final copy by class time, October 29th. You are required to place your words in this exact format.
a) Vocabulary word, b) hyphen (-), c) definition, and d) source.
Example: Surfing – Browsing around on the Web without any particular purpose. (Curriculum Webs, 2003, p. 211). Hint, do not number your vocabulary list.
3. Anytime after Midnight, October 26th, you can retrieve the vocabulary words and you will want to copy and paste the words into a Microsoft Word document. As soon as you start, you will want to save the document and title the document “vocabulary_lastname,” (ex. vocabulary_chang). In order to copy and paste you will simply go to one of the vocabulary entry that your fellow classmates have posted and choose “Edit,” “Select All,” and then “Copy.” After you have copied the items, you will want to go back to Microsoft Word and choose “Edit” and then “Paste.” Once you have completed this process for all of the different entries, you are now ready to alphabetize the list.
4. Prior to alphabetizing the list, make sure all of the words are on your Word document. Similar to before, you will want to select everything on the page by choosing “Edit” and then “Select All.” Now that everything is selected, you will want to choose “Table” and then “Sort” and another menu will appear and choose “OK.” You should now have a list that is alphabetized. Hint, place your title or heading after you have sorted the list, because it will sort your title or heading along with the vocabulary words.
5. When you are done, you can place any of the previously learned skills into this document if you like, but it is not necessary. You can either email me this as an attachment or provide a hard copy for me.
In the end, you will have a comprehensive vocabulary list alphabetized using Microsoft Word.
