Inspiration

You will use Inspiration to create one of the following...

  • Family Tree
  • School Directory or
  • School related project

You will have at least 25 separate entries or shape and at least 10 of the 25 entrees will need to be a pictures that takes the place of a shape.

You are now ready to get started on your assignment.  In the middle of the page, you should have an oval shaped object similar to the picture below and replace the "Main Idea" with a new title.  While your cursor is at the end of your title, select "Rapid Fire" from the toolbar.  Once this has been accomplished, you will see a red lightning symbol like the picture below.  From here, you will type in the 1st entry and then hit return and it will automatically place your entry into its own separate box.  Continue doing this until all of the entries are made.

When you place your entries, your document will look clustered and confusing, so you can clean up your document by selecting "Arrange" from the toolbar and then select OK.

To change the object shape where you placed your entry, you will need to do the following.  Download in image and then select the object that you want changed and choose "Edit" and then "Insert Graphic."  You will then need to navigate to your image and then select "Open."  This will replace your image with one from the Web.

If you want to change the image using something from Inspiration, you will need to do the following.  Select the image again and then simply select another symbol from the "Symbol Palette." This will also change your image.

Not mandatory, but to add some "creativity," you might want to play with different shapes, color, line size, and etc.

Note: When linking the Inspiration file to the portfolio.html file, it does not work or it comes out looking disoriented. You will need to do the following in order to link the page correctly.

1. Go and open up the Inspiration assignment.

2. Choose 'File' and 'Export...'

3. When the next menu appears, choose JPEG and click on the 'Save' button.

4. The next window will ask where you want to save your file. You will want to save it with a .jpg or .jpeg extension. My example is familytree.jpg

5. Once you successfully exported your file, you are now ready to link the new 'familytree.jpg' file to the bottom of your portfolio page.
