Prospective Students

The Transfer Initiative Project (TIP), Division of Student Affairs is excited that you are thinking about transitioning to California State University, Northridge (CSUN). We feel we have much to offer you as a transfer student at our University.

We are aware that the decision to transfer from one college to another can be a confusing experience. Colleges and universities are highly diversified, and that is why it is vitally important that you think ahead and make plans.

Prospective students who are planning to transfer to CSUN from another college or university should check out the links: Transfer Student Checklist and Apply for admission to CSUN and EOP for valuable information on the transfer process.

Here are some Basic Tips on Transfer:

  • Determine your intended academic major/degree program.
  • Seek advice on transfer from your academic counselor/advisor during your first semester at your transfer institution.
  • Map out your course work in accordance with the recommended transfer program or education plan with your advisor, or a visiting CSUN transfer representative.
  • Become familiar with CSUN's policies on General Education and Transfer Credit. Suggestion: Use existing online resources such as www.assist.org and www.collegesource.org.
  • Check CSUN's transfer application and admission procedures and deadlines.
  • Check all deadlines - application, admissions, fees, housing, financial aid, and scholarships.
  • Keep in mind that course and program requirements may change as the university attempts to keep the academic programs current. Always consult the University Catalog as a viable reference on degree programs offered.
