Freshman Convocation - A Celebration of Learning

Attention All Faculty and Staff: SAVE THE DATE

September 4, 2008, 6:00 PM - Oviatt LawnCalifornia State University, Northridge

What is Convocation? This tradition convenes the freshman class to welcome them as participants in our campus community and to inspire them with excitement for learning in a formal ceremony marking the beginning of their CSUN academic journey. The first CSUN Convocation was held last September 2007.

Freshman Convocation and RFK Jr.'s Freshman Convocation Speech

The 2007 Keynote speaker is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who will speak on "Our Environmental Destiny." Mr. Kennedy, an internationally recognized environmental activist, will discuss "the important role that our natural surroundings play in our work, our health, and our identity as Americans. Using examples gathered from relevant art, history, litigation, and literature, he reminds us that we have a responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations." President's Convocation Fall 2007

Please note that the President's Annual Convocation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, on the lawn of the Oviatt Library. The event will begin with the traditional welcome back reception at 8:30 a.m., followed by the convocation address at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Please join us in celebrating the start of the 2007-08 academic year.

CA State Employees Campaign Results

April 3, 2007

The Matador Involvement Center's Volunteer Program is happy to announce the results of the 2007 United Way State Employees Charitable Campaign. California State University, Northridge raised $32,076, for the 2007 campaign. United Way of Greater Los Angeles benefits hundreds of non-profit organizations including the American Red Cross, The Boys and Girls Club, The American Cancer Society and the Salvation Army, just to name a few.

You have helped thousands of people while at the same time helping local non-profits organizations grow, expand services, and become vital forces in our communities.
