Getting Involved

A large urban university of over 30,000 students can seem daunting. How does a student fit in? Where do students make friends? How can this educational metropolis be made student-friendly where there is a feeling of community and commitment that will cement students to the goal of graduation?

Broaden the classroom and see the many opportunities Student Affairs has to offer that will make college life meaningful and memorable. Explore the Getting Involved menu: Find out how you can serve as a peer mentor or educator bringing a student's view to academic and extracurricular subjects. Join one of CSUN's 200-plus clubs and organizations or start up a new one. Open doors for yourself that will lead to networking with students with common interests, with faculty, and professionals in your field. Use internships to expand what you're learning in class, give you job experience, and allow you to expand your career interests. Living Learning Communities in Residential Life will immerse you in your academic field. Volunteer activities let students give back to the community while the Ambassadors on campus provide tours to prospective students and their families. With all of these it's possible to hone job skills for resumes and grad school applications. It's all about finding the pieces that work to make life at Cal State Northridge a great experience for you now and a stepping stone to your future.
