Letter from the VP

It has been said that a student's journey through college is much like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Students receive information and have a variety of experiences (i.e., collect puzzle pieces) that they try to understand (i.e., fit together). The challenge for the students is to figure out how to be successful as a student (i.e., put the puzzle together) without the benefit of knowing how the bits of information and experience are supposed to go together (i.e., without seeing the jigsaw puzzle box top). We all know that putting a jigsaw puzzle together without a picture of the completed puzzle is very difficult. Likewise, the journey through college without guidance can be difficult, frustrating, and often leads to problems. The Cal State Northridge Division of Student Affairs is the student's guide to putting the "college puzzle" together. The information contained in the Student Affairs web site is designed to help you understand the University and, thereby, to be a successful student. I hope you will utilize the programs, activities, and services available to you through the Division of Student Affairs; they are available to help you put together your unique journey through college.
