Northridge — The Student Recreation Center (SRC) invites all CSUN students, faculty and staff to its “Poolside DJ Party: March Madness Edition” to cool off, enjoy great music from a live DJ and check out the competitive water basketball action. On Wednesdays, March 9, 16 and 30 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the SRC Pool, students can sign up to play in the 5-on-5 water basketball tournament with a team or just watch the competition unfold. It’s good to get there early because the first 100 students wearing a swimsuit will get a free Subway box lunch.
“We are so excited to be combining our popular Poolside DJ Party with the excitement of March Madness,” said Aquatics Coordinator Ryan Hairapetian, “Whether you choose to play on a water basketball team or just kick back and watch the fun, this non-stop one hour event is the place to be!”
The 5 on 5 in-water basketball tournaments will feature up to eight teams. All eight teams will participate on Wednesday, March 9 and will be narrowed down to the final four teams on Wednesday, March 16. The finals featuring the top two teams will take place on Wednesday, March 30, Each team must register through IMleagues. All those who don’t participate in the water basketball tournament will still have an awesome time with other fun activities, a chance to win cool raffle prizes and of course, great music!
