Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Sponsored Programs Employees

July 14, 2015

Dear Principal Investigators:

For the FY 2015/16, TUC’s Board of Directors has approved a 3% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for TUC employees. The adjustment is effective as of July 1, 2015. COLA is a percentage increase of the compensation intended to offset a general increase in the cost of living.

TUC leaves the decision to grant a COLA at the discretion of the individual Principal Investigator. The COLA must be funded from the respective project(s). Please ensure that sufficient funding in your project(s) is available before you grant a COLA. You may also have to request a budget revision, if there are insufficient funds in the salary/wages line item of your budget.

The COLA applies only to regular staff appointments. Not eligible for a COLA are ‘Emergency Hires’, employees with less than 6 months of service, and employees with a recent change of status increase.

Should you decide to grant a COLA to your employees, please notify the TUC-Human Resources Dept. via the attached form: click here. The COLA will then be processed with the next pay period.

Should you have any questions, please contact me, your liaison or Maureen Gonzalez, TUC Human Resources at X3648 or at

Sincerely,
Georg Jahn
