Education

Experience

As a practitioner and academic lecturer, Charles Keynejad has had more than 35 years of work experience in the fields of urban / regional planning, environmental planning and sustainability, growth and development, comprehensive and land use planning, urban infrastructure and transportation planning. His work experiences include:

  • Lecturer / Part-time Faculty (2005 - Present) at California State University, Northridge.
  • Senior Regional Planner ( 1992-2004) at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Southern California region (six-county area: Los A ngeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and Imperial)
  • Organizer and conductor of educational seminars, conferences and workshops (1998-2004) in the Southern California region on transportation and air quality conformity, and the associated federal and state requirements
  • Chief Planner (1981-1991) at the Department of Planning and Growth Management, City of Fort Worth, Texas - in charge of the comprehensive planning, growth and transportation planning
  • Lecturer (1989 - 1991) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) - School of Architecture and School of Business (Real Estate and Development)
  • Organizer and conductor of educational seminars (1987 - 89) for the various neighborhood groups and professional groups on the city planning and site planning at the City of Forth Worth and Tarrant County Texas.

  • Principal author of the Congestion Management and the Transportation Conformity chapters of the Regional Transportation Plans (RTPSs: 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2004) - the Southern California Association of Government
  • Principal author of the 1987 and 1991 Comprehensive Plans for the City of Fort Worth, Texas
  • Principal author of the 1988 Master Thoroughfare Plan for the City of Forth Worth, Texas
  • Co-author of the 1983 and 1984 Sector (neighborhood) Plans for the Northeast and Rockwood sectors for the City of Forth Worth, Texas

  • President’s Merit Award from the SCAG Regional Council (1998)
  • The 1991 Service Award from the Midwest Section of the Texas Chapter of APA Charter member of the Demographic and Economic Association of the North Central Texas (1986)
  • The 1984 Texas APA Chapter Award for the City of Forth Worth's Northeast Sector Plan
