California Planning Foundation Scholarships

6 February 2014

Urban Studies and Planning Majors
Department of Urban Studies and Planning
California State University, Northridge

Dear Urban Studies and Planning Majors ...

The California Planning Foundation offers scholarships to planning students in the state each year. And this year it is doing so again and is offering several $1000 scholarships. The Foundation asks that each department nominate one of its students as a candidate for the receipt  of a scholarship. Often our department’s nominees have received scholarships from the  Foundation. Such has been the case in the last three years.

Candidates must:

  1. Have an excellent academic record and a demonstrated commitment to serve the planning profession in California.
  2. Be a major and a continuing student in Urban Studies and Planning who will be enrolled 3/4ths time during the coming academic year -- 2014-15.
  3. Submit a 500 word essay "explaining why planning is important to you, your potential contribution to the profession of planning in the State of California, and how this scholarship would help you to complete your degree. The statement should describe your near-term and long-term career goals."
  4. Send your letter of interest and your 500 word application essay to Professor Henrik Minassians on or before Monday, 3 March 2014. A faculty committee will review the applications from the department's students and then will nominate one person to the California Planning Foundation as the department's nominee for a scholarship.
