Alpha Kappa Delta Board Members

“...born with a veil, and gifted with second-sight in this American world,--a world which yields him no self-consciousness, but only lets him see himself through the revelation of the other world. It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others, of measuring one's soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused contempt and pity.”

– W.E.B. Du Bois

—Hello Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society members! I am your chapter President in my third year in the graduate program.  My focus is on Sex and Gender and Culture. Upon completion of my M.A., I plan on pursuing teaching opportunities at the Community College. In my “spare” time, I work on renovating my house, enjoying the outdoors, and volunteering where I can. —If you have any questions about anything, just ask, I’m happy to answer.

Vice President: Annie Ross

Hello everyone! I'm Annie Ross, AKD's Vice President this year. I'm in my senior year here at CSUN, majoring in Sociology (Social Welfare) and minoring in Religious Studies. Once I receive my B.A. next Spring, I plan to attend grad school and pursue an M.S.W. I would ultimately like to work as a licensed clinical social worker in the field of gerontology. I am also an intern at Emeritus Senior Living located in Northridge. I'm looking forward to meeting this year's new AKD members and participating in the upcoming events with our chapter!

Secretary: Jazmin Martinez

Hello, my name is Jazmin Martinez and I will be AKD’s new secretary. I am a Sociology major at Cal State University Northridge and will be graduating in May2013.  I plan on applying to the National Security Studies Graduate program. I like to read, run, and walk my fat dogs when I have spare time.

Treasurer/Coordinator of Events and Activities: Bobby Keo

Hello, I’m Bobby Keo. Currently I’m in my second/final year as a graduate student here at CSUN in the Sociology department. I graduated from UCLA in 2011 receiving my B.A. in Sociology with a minor in socio-cultural Anthropology. My career interest are varied as I am open to teaching at the CC level, pursuing a Ph.D. and teaching at the 4-year university level, or staying in my current field as a research consultant. Being from San Diego I am a huge Chargers fan, enjoy watching the Padres, and of course always cheer on the Bruins and Matadors.

Graduate Advisor: Elizabeth Bogumil

I am a graduate student interested in urban planning, quality of life and open space usage.  Ultimately, my plan is to get a PhD in Sociology or Urban Planning and work as a professor or quality of life consultant for cities and planned communities. In AKD I am responsible for the graduate student outreach and advisement, fliers and assorted other contributions. Personally, I enjoy urban exploring, photography, documentaries, blogging and volunteering. Feel free to reach out to me for any questions, comments, or suggestions.
