CSBS Faculty Win 2015 Distinguished Teaching Awards

CSBS Professors Kenya Covington, Urban Studies and Holli Tonyan, Psychology have both been awarded the 2015 Distinguished Teaching, Counseling, or Librarianship Award.

Three awards are given each year to faculty with a record of superlative teaching, counseling or librarianship, and/or have developed and successfully utilized a major curriculum improvement project that advances teaching effectiveness at any educational level. The National Council for Black Studies (NCBS) held its annual conference in Los Angeles. Conference highlights included: Congresswoman Karen Bass as a keynote speaker; a town hall meeting with Assemblywoman Dr. Shirley Weber at the African American Museum; and a plenary session hosted by UCLA on the 2015 Hollywood Diversity Report with actors Robert Townsend, Wren Brown, and others.
