Prof. Meeta Banerjee receives the 2016 SAGE Professional Research Award

Prof. Meeta Banerjee has received the Association of Black Psychologists "2016 SAGE Professional Research Award" for excellence in scholarship.  The award is for her 2014 Journal of Black Psychology publication titled Community Violence and Racial Socialization: Their Influence on the Psychosocial Well-Being of African American College Students.Meeta Banerjee is an Associate Professor in the CSUN Psychology Department. Dr. Banerjee’s research employs both integrative and ecological frameworks to understand the influence of contextual factors on early and late adolescent developmental trajectories in ethnic minority families. She is especially interested in exploring the interaction between ecological contexts (e.g., schools, families, neighborhoods, racial discrimination, and communities) and racial socialization practices and processes. Moreover, Dr. Banerjee investigates how these factors are both directly and indirectly related to mental health and educational outcomes in ethnic minority youth.
