The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is a highly competitive program that recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. The NSF GRFP is one of the oldest graduate fellowship programs with some very notable awardees, including 42  Nobel laureates. To date, this program has funded over 50,000 Graduate Research Fellowships out of more than 500,000 applicants.

This year, the NSF GRFP received over 13,000 applications and only 2,000 of those were funded. For more information, visit the NSF GRFP site.
