Matt Cahn

Summary:

Matthew Cahn is Professor of Political Science and a higher education consultant.  He has served as Vice Provost of the Division of Academic Affairs (2018-2023), and earlier as Interim Dean, Associate Dean, and Department Chair in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, where he has been a faculty member since 1991. His research interests include higher education administration, environmental policy and resource management, and public policy. Dr. Cahn has been involved in several applied policy areas, including higher education, equity, transportation issues in metropolitan Los Angeles, and marine ecological reserves in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. His publications include Public Policy: The Essential Readings (with Stella Theodoulou), Rethinking California: Politics and Policy in the Golden State (with Eric Schockman and David Shafie), Strategic Planning in Environmental Regulation: A Policy Approach that Works (with Sheldon Kamieniecki and Steve Cohen), and Environmental Deceptions: The Tension between Liberalism and Environmental Policymaking in the United States.
