Guest Speaker, Tanya LuhrmannTanya M. Luhrmann is the Watkins University Professor in the Stanford Anthropology Department. Her books include Persuasions of the Witch’s Craft, The Good Parsi, Of Two Minds, and When God Talks Back, which was  named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and a Kirkus Reviews’ Best Book of the Year. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Her work focuses on how objects without material presence come to seem real to people, and the way that ideas about the mind affect the mental experience.
