Sunday Oct. 11 marked the 1st Annual "Archaeology Day" fair at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center.  Organized by the National Park Service (NPS) and California State Parks, the event included an array of family-friendly activities, demonstrations, and lectures.  CSUN was well-represented: members of  the Anthropology Student's Association (ASA) staffed the "dig box," and puzzle areas, MA students hosted a CSUN table, and Prof. James Snead gave a talk on the St. Francis Dam project.  Also present was recent CSUN graduate Aaron Davis, now an NPS employee.  Check out the great photos on the ASA's FB page, "ASA CSUN."

Outreach activities such as this are an increasingly essential element of the CSUN program, and are driven by student dedication.  Plans are already afoot to expand participation next year, and to plan other events in the meantime!
