A Black History Month Event.

Women wearing 1970's fashionIn celebration of Black History Month, the Hallowed Grounds Exhibit takes you on a unique journey into the Black experience, honoring the history and contemporary contributions of people of Black descent, whose experience is deeply embedded in the narrative of the American past, present and future.

Exhibits include:

  • "Art Meets Black History in Vintage Fashion, featuring 1970's shirt with images of Black Liberation Party Leaders, skirt and jewelry worn by legendary dancer/artist/activist Josephine Baker, Negro Baseball League Jacket, 1960's Cleopatra Playsuit Dress and more... compliments of Vintage Fashion Collector, Esther Gingberg, of Golyester Vintage Clothing in Los Angeles
  • "Men of Color Enquiry & Student Research Posters" featuring "The Justice System in Black and White", "Journal to Manhood", "Black Men in Music", "Mass Incarceration of Black Males is the New Jim Crow", "Black Men in Music" and more...
  • Art and memorabilia from the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), the Black Alumni Association (BAA), the CSUN Black Student Union (BSU), NAACP Student Organization, the African Student Organization (ASO), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Parking: On campus Parking Permit Purchase (Daily fee is $6.00). Parking permits are required at all times in all areas of campus. Daily Parking Permits may be purchased in advance from the CSUN Permit Store or may also be purchased once you arrive on campus from a parking permit dispenser or from one of the Information Booths.  Both the parking permit dispensers and Information Booths accept cash and credit cards to purchase your daily parking permit.
