Where it all began...
Organization Year of the Student Dietetics Association
By a unanimous vote of the CSUN Associated Student Senate, the Student Dietetics Association became a chartered campus organization on February 18, 1975.
The officers pro tempore were selected by the committee of volunteers who started the organization. They included: President, Paulette Lambert; vice-president, Phil Harvey; secretary, Joan De Vito; treasurer, Lisa Licavoli; historian, Kathy Briggs. Lilian Parkin and Dr. Anne Stasch were the faculty advisors.
The SDA came into existence due to a need of the Home Economics students in the dietetics option for an organization to serve their specialized needs for career and internship information and other matters in their field. It was also hoped that the organization could help to obtain a second-degree program in Food Service and Dietetics within the Home Economics Department.
The first semester of the SDA’s existence was devoted mainly to organizing the new group—writing a constitution, expanding membership, and establishing goals.
In May of 1975, new officers were elected for the 1975-76 school year.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Briggs, Historian, 1975
