Albuca, Boophone, Calibanus, Eucrosia, Lachenalia, Ornithogalum, Tricyrtis, Zephyranthes—exotic-sounding names for some of the bulbs that can be grown in southern California. Like cherished friends that arrive with a visual fanfare of blooms, bulbs share their beautiful display, and then go away. Several months later, the new growth peeking above the soil heralds the return of these dear friends.

On Saturday, October 31, from 9 – 11 a.m., Tom Glavich will introduce you to some of his beautiful friends and share growing tips to keep them flourishing.

An accomplished grower of bulbs, succulents, and bromeliads, Tom Glavich is the author of The Beginner’s Guide to Haworthia, Agave and other Succulent Monocots. In addition to monthly newsletter contributions, he is co-chair of the annual Inter-City Cactus and Succulent Show in Arcadia, and is the co-chair of the Research Committee of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America. He expresses his creative talents through his ceramic work and t-shirt designs for the Inter-City Show.

Registration for the free class is required. Please e-mail botanicgarden@csun.edu to request a space in the class or for more information. Driving and parking instructions, as well as the class meeting location, will be sent upon registration.
