Exchange Visitor Information and IAP-66 Request Forms for Foreign
Scholars
California State University,
Northridge has been designated by the United States Information Agency
(USIA) as a program sponsor for Exchange Visitor Program No. P-1-2896.
Under this program, CSUN may issue a "Certificate of Eligibility for
Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status" to enable foreign scholars who meet the
eligibility criteria to apply for a J-1 visa and enter the United
States.
The Responsible Officer of
CSUN's Exchange Visitor Program, Dr. Mack I. Johnson of The Office of
Graduate Studies, Research & International Programs (GRIP) is
authorized to issue DS-2019 forms to persons who are eligible for one
of four categories.
International Faculty (H1-B status)
To file for H1-B Status (petition
for processing non-immigrant worker) you need to submit the following
information/documentation:
- A copy of Curriculum
Vitae / Resume
- Course evaluation reports (past
two years)
- Provost appointment letter
- Passport photograph copy
- Copies of degrees and
certificates
- Copy of F-1 Practical Training
Authorization (if applicable)
- Letters of Support from your
Chair and Dean***
- Letters of Support (two to
three) from your colleagues expressing how much they value you as a
colleague***
- Rate of pay (salary structure/
scale)***
- Copy of your I-94 (attached to
your passport)***
- Money order made
payable to USCIS for $190 (Dependents fee is $200)***
- Money order for $500
(made payable
to Department of Homeland Security for Fraud Detection Prevention)
- Candidate's Letter (personal
letter to INS in which you outline accomplishments during the last two
years and reasons why you should receive an extension)***
- Expedited review is
available for TN and H1-B visas. (The INS charges an additional
$1000 fee for this service.)
***to be submitted for initial and
extension filing (excluding candidate's letter which is only needed for
extension)
