Dr. Ani Nahapetian and Dr. Gloria Melara (Computer Science) and Dr. Ric Alviso (Music) have received a $50,000 grant from the Association of American Colleges and Universities for the final year of Learning to Code by Making Music: The Introduction of Computer Science Coursework with World Music Applications for the Retention of Underrepresented Students in STEM. Dr. Nicholas Kioussis, Professor of Physics & Astronomy and Director of the W. M. Keck Computational Materials Theory Center, has received a $25,000 contract from the U.S. Army to continue his research, Identification of Surface Defect Candidates and their passivation in Strained-Layer Type-II Superlattices for Infrared Detectors.
