C. Jacob Hale, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at California State University, Northridge.
He has taught there since 1991. When he finished graduate school (Ph.D., University of North Carolina, 1988) he specialized in philosophy of mathematics and metaphysics. But for about the last dozen years his research has been interdisciplinary work in transgender studies.
Over the years Hale has been active in trans communities activism and culture-building, although his CSUN job leaves him little time for that now.
