What:

California State University, Northridge will announce that Rick Mazzuto, director of athletics at Longwood University in Virginia since 2002, has been named the new athletic director for the Matadors’ 20-team, Division I intercollegiate program.

A veteran administrator with 20 years experience leading NCAA Division I programs, Mazzuto served from 1989 to 2000 as athletic director at Saint Mary’s College of California, and from 1980 to 1989 as athletic director/assistant to the vice president for athletics policy at Iona College in New York. Mazzuto also worked as an instructor and sports information director at several institutions. He earned a B.A. and an M.A. in political science from Trinity College.
