Paralympic Games Medalists
to Demonstrate Sitting Volleyball at CSUN

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 5, 2005) -- The 2004 Paralympic Games bronz medal-winning USA Women's National Sitting Volleyball Team is slated to demonstrate the sport at Cal State Northridge on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m.

The demonstration will be held at the university's Redwood Hall Activity Center on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Nothridge off, Zelzah Avenue and Plummer Street.

The team will be training at CSUN's Redwood Hall from Aug. 7 to 14.

Designed for people with disabilities, sitting volleyball athletes play from the seated position on the floor. Despite a court smaller than the standard volleyball court, the game has similar rules to standard volleyball. Sitting volleyball athletes are traditionally people with disabilities which have affected the lower body. However, able-bodied players are encouraged to get involved with the sport.
