CSUN's College of Engineering, Computer Science Awards $66,000 to Students

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., June 1, 2005) -- Next year a group of Cal State Northridge students will be able to concentrate less on personal finances and more on their studies thanks to more than $65,000 awarded by CSUN's College of Engineering and Computer Science to its students.

The 51 scholarships, which are derived from scholarship endowments and annual gifts, will be awarded to 39 students during fall 2005 and spring 2006.

"These students are the role models for the college with all of them making excellent progress toward their degree goals," said J. Michael Kabo, associate dean of the college. "The scholarships provide us with great opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of our students."

"The generous investments that our donors make to our programs and students are indicative of the confidence they have in the quality of the education that our students are receiving here at Cal State Northridge," said Tammy Glenn, director of development and public relations for the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences.

Cal State Northridge's College of Engineering and Computer Science is home to several nationally recognized programs where students gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside faculty members and industry professionals on cutting-edge research.

California State University, Northridge has 31,000 full- and part-time students and offers 61 bachelor's and 42 master's degrees as well as 28 education credential programs. Founded in 1958, it is among the largest single-campus universities in the nation and the only four-year public university in the San Fernando Valley. The university serves as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Valley and beyond.
