CSUN Offers Help Interpreting Judicial System

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 5, 2006) — “Meet the Judges,” a public forum designed to answer questions about the operation of trial courts and the role of judges, will be sponsored by Cal State Northridge’s Political Science Department on Thursday, April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Open to the public, the free event will take place in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union, located on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

“This is a great opportunity for students and the community to ask questions of judges outside the courtroom setting,” said Chris Shortnell, a CSUN political science professor who organized the event. “The judges are there to make an at-times confusing system of justice more understandable.”

Los Angeles Superior Court judges and a representative from the San Fernando Valley Bar Association will share their experience and expertise regarding the inner workings of the legal system.

Parking is $4 and available in Lot G4, on the corner of Zelzah Avenue and Prairie Street.

For more information, contact Shortnell at (818) 677-7230.
