Third Annual Folklor de Mexico Coming to CSUN

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 14, 2006) -- Cal State Northridge invites the public to experience a celebration of Mexican culture through dance, music, and theatre on Friday, April 7.

The third annual "Folklor de Mexico," sponsored by Ballet Folklorico Aztlan de CSUN (BFA), will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the university's Performing Arts Center in the University Student Union on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The event will feature musical performances from the Mexican states of Jalisco, Veracruz, Sonora Bronco, Nayarit, and Costa de Sinaloa. Performing groups include Ballet Folklorico Aztlan de CSUN, Danza Mexica Cuahutemoc, Teatro Aztlan, Ballet Folklorico Mixteco, Grupo Folklorico de West Los Angeles, and Mariachi Alma de Mexico.

Tickets for the event are $15 and can be purchased at the Associated Students Ticket Office at (818) 677-2488.

Ballet Folklorico Aztlan de CSUN has performed in many events throughout the Southern California area. The organization has performed in the 30th Anniversary Celebration of CSUN's Chicano Studies Department, as well as Educational Opportunity Program and Associated Students events. BFA de CSUN prides itself in educating the community about the rich and diverse Mexican culture through their performances.
