CSUN Hosts Banquet to Celebrate Chinese New Year
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Feb.20, 2006) – The China Institute at Cal State Northridge welcomes in “the Year of the Dog” next month at its annual New Year’s Banquet in celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival.
CSUN invites the community to attend the banquet on Saturday, March 11, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Grand Salon, located in the University Student Union at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
“The China Institute has continued to play an important role in promoting understanding, friendship, exchange and collaboration between CSUN and China” said Justine Su, the institute’s director. “As the Year of the Dog is coming near, we are all touched with the dog spirit of loyalty, honesty and generosity. We certainly expect to have another productive and successful year in our exchange programs with educational institutions in China,” she said.
The banquet will include a buffet, presentations, awards and entertainment. Tax-deductible tickets begin at $50 and will include a membership to the China Institute along with two seats to the banquet.

Cal State Northridge established the China Institute in 1982. The institute aims to promote better understanding of the Chinese culture and to strengthen friendship between the American and the Chinese people. In more than 20 years it has played host to hundreds of Chinese scholars and has been influential in arranging dozens of education and cultural exchange programs between China and the United States.
