Community Invited to Help CSUN Officials Scope Out Campus' Future

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 29, 2005) - Members of the community are invited to join Cal State Northridge administrators, faculty, staff and students next month as they discuss plans for an environmental impact report on the campus' future.

Northridge officials are holding two open forums on Thursday, May 19, to solicit input for "Envision 2035," a university initiative to shape the campus master plan for the future, as well as to lay groundwork for a draft environmental impact report (EIR) for that plan.

The first forum is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the Presentation Room of the Oviatt Library in the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge. The second forum will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., also in the Presentation Room.

These are the fourth in a series of forums university officials have held to ensure that community members have an opportunity to join them in preparing CSUN to better serve the higher education needs of the region. For more information about "Envision 2035," visit its Web site at www.csun.edu/envision2035.

The university is posting a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the EIRon the Envision 2035 Web site as of May 2. The NOP informs government agencies and the public that an EIR is being prepared and allows them to identify environmental issues that need to be studied.

The NOP will also be available for review at the Oviatt Library, the university's Facilities Planning Office in University Hall Suite 325, and the Los Angeles County Public Library at 9051 Darby Ave. in Northridge.

Public comments on the NOP can be submitted between May 5 and June 4, 2005.

For additional information or to RSVP for either forum, contact CSUN Community Relations Director Judy Nutter at (818) 677-2123 or by e-mail at judith.nutter@csun.edu.
