WB TV Executives to Share Show Biz Know-How with CSUN Students

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2005) -- Warner Bros. television executives will be sharing what they know about getting into show business with Cal State Northridge students or alumni Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Warner Bros. Ranch in Burbank.

"The Business in Show Biz," co-hosted by the university's Entertainment Industry Institute, is designed to give CSUN students majoring in management, marketing, advertising and public relations a chance to talk directly with executives from The WB Television Network about careers in the industry.

"This is a rare opportunity for our students to go to the television network and talk to executives about what they are looking for, rather than applying online or mailing in a resume--all the sorts of impersonal things that people do when trying to break into show business," said Robert Gustafson, director of the Entertainment Industry Institute.

Gustafson said the seminar, which is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., is structured to give the students plenty of time to have formal and informal conversations with the television executives.

"Not only are the television executives taking time out of their busy schedules to talk with the students, but they will be joining them for lunch, which will afford all sorts of opportunities to share information and to learn," he said.

Among the Warner Bros. executives taking part are host Brian Wright, director of staffing and recruitment for the network.

Participation is limited to CSUN students and alumni. To reserve a spot, students and alumni should e-mail Gustafson at News Releases | Public Relations | University Advancement
