Filmmakers, Business Leaders to Offer
CSUN Students Insight into Their Chosen Fields

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2005)--Filmmakers Frank Marshall and Breck Eisner and business leaders Angelo R. Mozilo and Charles Noski will share insight into their respective fields with Cal State Northridge students on Thursday, Nov. 3.

The four are taking part in the university's Executive Speaker Series, which is designed to give Cal State Northridge students a rare opportunity to have intimate conversations with some of the state's leading minds in a variety of fields. The presenters also get a chance to learn first-hand about the kind of educational experiences that take place at CSUN.

"The series presents a wonderful chance for our students to learn from the people who know about the challenges and opportunities they will face when they graduate. At the same time, our presenters get to share their experience and wealth of knowledge with young people who are eager to hear what they have to say," said Judy Knudson, Cal State Northridge's vice president of university advancement.

Eisner and Marshall will be speaking to students in the College of Arts, Media, and Communication. Mozilo and Noski will address students in the College of Business and Economics.

Eisner recently had his film directorial debut with Sahara, starring Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz, William H. Macy and Steve Zahn. Prior to that, he directed and produced the two-hour drama, Thought Crimes, for the USA Network. He also served as a director of the acclaimed sci-fi drama, Taken, winner of an Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries and a Saturn Award for Best Single Television Presentation.

Marshall has more than 50 films under his belt as a producer, including Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Color Purple, The Sixth Sense and Seabiscuit, all of which received Academy Awards nominations. As a director, his credits include the 1995 summer adventure hit Congo, the true-life drama Alive, the thriller Arachnophobia and the Emmy Award-winning HBO miniseries, From the Earth to the Moon. He is currently in post-production on his next directorial assignment, Antarctica, for Disney.

Mozillo is chairman and chief executive officer of Countrywide Financial Corp., a company he co-founded in 1969 on the principle that every family in America desiring to achieve the dream of homeownership should have the opportunity to do so. Today, Countrywide is a global leader in residential finance and related services. It is a member of the S&P Fortune 500 and Forbes Global 2000, with more than 700 offices operating on three continents.

From 1999 to 2002, Noski, a CSUN alum, served as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of AT&T Corp. and was elected vice chairman of AT&T's board of directors in February 2002. He retired from AT&T upon completion of its restructuring in November 2002. From November 2002 to May 2005, Noski was a member of the board of directors of Northrop Grumman Corp., and served as corporate vice president and chief financial officer of the company from December 2003 to March 2005.

California State University, Northridge has 32,000 full- and part-time students and offers 61 bachelor's and 42 master's degrees as well as 28 education credential programs. Founded in 1958, it is among the largest single-campus universities in the nation and the only four-year public university in the San Fernando Valley. The university serves as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Valley and beyond.
