Cal State Northridge Campus Reopens for Friday;
Students and Employees Asked to Return to Campus

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 30, 2005) -- The California State University, Northridge campus will reopen on Friday, September 30, 2005, amid improving conditions with the area brush fires burning along the Los Angeles/Ventura County line.

Cal State Northridge students are being encouraged to return for scheduled classes, and campus employees should report for work as scheduled. The University, home to more than 33,000 students and nearly 4,000 employees, is expecting to remain open during normal business hours on Friday.

The University, meanwhile, is continuing to make scheduling accommodations for individual students and employees who may be unable to reach the campus this week because of personal circumstances related to the fires.

University students and employees should continue to monitor the CSUN home Web page at www.csun.edu for updates. Campus status updates also are available via the University's toll-free, 24-hour telephone information lines:
